Today was different than usual because we had a substitute. Her name was Mrs. Pfeiffer. We had Mrs. Pfeiffer because Mrs.Truby was away at a technology meeting in either Manhattan or Lawrence. To get on with the day, for morning work we had putting muscle into memory. It was where we had to do mental math, and it was pretty easy for me so it was done almost immediately. Then we went swimming and I am in the white group, the small group, and today we learned diving and then we tried a little off the blocks. First dive we did was the sitting dive where you sit in the gutter and put your feet on the wall in the pool, then you put your hands into streamline position and you curl over into the water and push off and that was really easy for me. The next dive was the kneeling dive where you have one foot in the gutter and your toes curled over the edge and you do the same thing to push off except that you curl over when you push off. This one was a bit harder for me because it was sort of higher up but was still sort of the same. The next one was the same as the kneeling except that you don't kneel. This was one was hard for me because I sort of did a belly flop but a bit better than that. The last one is the standing dive and I did horribly at that because it was more of a belly flop than a dive. Finally we went to the blocks and dove of those, that was a bit better for me!

Then after that we read for awhile and got AR points or just did work until vocab. In vocab, we had to study over unit 7. What we had to do was do the hard page which is where we highlighted lines in noun, verb, adjective, orange, blue or yellow. Then we had to write a word in that place on the line. After that, we did the same thing - worked on vocab with partners or read and got AR points. And when we were all done with that we had lit circles. Lit circles are fun because we get to do different jobs such as word finder by finding words in the book and telling what you think they mean and finding out what they really mean in the dictionary, illustrator where you draw pictures of things that really interest you in the story, connector where you connect the book with the outside world or other books you have read, and discussion director where you think up question to ask on the meeting dates. I was all done with my lit circles so I had to read or else I would get piles of homework.

After we were done with lit circles I went to band. I play the trombone and it was great. For lunch, we had sort of like a sloppy joe but more of a barbecue because it had brisket in it which was really good. After that we graded D.O.L and I did great on them. Then we had Town Time and my team was telling me to move people on the board and I said I already had. The rest of my town was working on a farm except the hunter and the blacksmith. Next we had math and we had to do problems 1-30 on a piece of paper but it was okay because it is not homework unless we don't finish by Friday night. After that we had library and we watched Clash of the Titans and it was really good. The funny part is when Poseidon sent the tidal wave against the town. I checked out Oliver and the Oil Spill from the library.

We got back to our room, and we packed up and went home.
